Topic: The Identification and Rehabilitation of Critical Structural Deficiencies-1.5 PDH

Description: 
The presentation will be divided into two parts.  The first part of the presentation will focus on the identification of typical types of critical structural problems discovered during routine inspections.  The second part will present common rehabilitation strategies implemented to mitigate these problems.  Several common structure types will be discussed including but not limited to stone masonry arches, steel multi-beam and girder-floorbeam-stringer superstructures.  Also, will look at the cooperative relationship that is required between inspectors and owners to facilitate the development of sound rehabilitation concepts.

Presenters:
Ronald J. Ladyka, P.E. is a Senior Structural Engineer and Project Manager with Michael Baker Jr., Inc.  Ron has a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Science and Mathematics from Indiana University of Pennsylvania as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.  Ron has been working with Baker for over 12 years with his primary focus on the inspection and rehabilitation of structures.  Ron is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and Maryland and is a certified instructor for NHI and PennDOT.

Kamlesh A. Ashar, P.E. is a Civil Engineer Manager - Bridge Inspection with PENNDOT District 5-0 Allentown. Previous position held at PENNDOT included Assistant District Bridge Engineer-Design. Kamlesh has a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Mumbai. India.  Kamlesh has been working with PENNDOT for over 24 years with his primary focus on the inspection and rehabilitation of structures.  Kamlesh is a registered Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania and is a Certified Bridge Safety Inspector.
